The Misfits

I've decided to combine my reviews for the 2000 and 2001 shows.  My memory is a bit vague so I'll try my best.  I don't recall who the openers were, obviously they weren't worth a damn!  At any rate, the August 5, 2000 show (@Bogarts in Cincinnati, OH) featured the '90s incarnation of the Misfits: Michale Graves on vox, Jerry Only on bass, Doyle on guitar and Dr. Chud on drums.  These guys put on a hell of a show.  The whole crowd was signing.  It was quite surreal.  Towards the end of the show, I recall Graves being in some kind of pain as he was holding his stomach and didn't move much, however he did go on till the end of the show.  Overall, it was a great experience.  I ended up bootlegging the show, but at the time, I only had a mini-cassette recorder.  I expected the worst, but got a decent (well as decent as I can get with it) recording of the show.  Here are two mp3s from that show:

The second time I seen the Misfits was on October 12, 2001, same venue/city as the previous show.  By this time, Chud and Graves had left the band, and Doyle was on/off with the band.  The line-up for this show included Jerry Only on vox & bass, Dez Cadena on guitar, and Robo on drums, as well as Marky Ramone (they switched throughout the set).  The stage setup for this show was a lot different than the previous show.  I recall the drums being on what appeared to be a mound of skulls.  They also had backing videos playing throughout, usually of older horror / scifi films.  My beef with the show was that Jerry Only wasn't as exciting as Graves.  Graves would run around, get into the music, jump around, etc... while singing.  Only basically stood there and walked around a bit.  Granted Jerry is much older than Graves, it was definitely a difference of day and night between the two.  However, the set included a lot of various Misfits tracks, old and new, as well as Black Flag and Ramone covers.  Hearing Jerry do Ramones was bad....very bad.  At any rate, I still enjoyed the show.  Like the last year's show, I bootlegged this one as well.  This time I had a mini-disk recorder and got a much better recording though it does have some hiss as the recording was very low and had to amplify it quite a bit.  Here are two mp3s from this show:
